Man V/S Pizza at Sbarro, CP

Sbarro recently organized the Man V/S Pizza contest at its outlet in Connaught Place on 14th May, 2015. Held by pairing techies and pizza-lovers in teams, the fierce battle saw 8 teams of bloggers match wits and eating skills to consume maximum amount of pizza in 10 minutes flat.

Beyond the fresh ingredients, variety of toppings and charcoal-kissed thin crust, it’s the authentic flavour of New York style pizzas that remains the most remarkable thing about Sbarro.

Being an ardent pizza fan and a social media enthusiast, it was a pleasant surprise to be chosen as a participant of first of its kind Man V/S Pizza contest. I was elated to put my social media skills and love for food at test in this delightful competition.

There were 2 members in each team where one was the foodie and the other was the techie.  The thrill factor of the game lay in the 10 minutes that were given to the gourmets to finish eating the pizza and emerge victorious in the competition.

While the foodies were grilled on their love for the sumptuous pizzas, the techies were tweeting about #SbarroManVSPizza and posting about the contest during the same time.

Bulldogs, Hauz Khas Village

Bulldogs is a fresh new entrant in the clutter of various bars and cafes in Hauz Khas Village.

It is the first café to introduce the concept of Bar Exchange in Delhi. They have tried to replicate the mechanism of a stock exchange in a bar where drinks prices vary with demand. Even in peak demand, the prices were very good.

The bright interiors, comfortable and spacious three floor seating, foot tapping music, makes up for a decent first impression.

The food menu has some peculiar dishes which I would certainly recommended. Apart from Italian, and North Indian Cuisine, Bulldogs impresses with snacks like Stuffed Cheese Mushroom which boast of exemplary flavours. It consists of Crispy Fried Mushroom stuffed with fresh Cheese and served with a tangy dip. It was plated beautifully and had the perfect amount of cheese and spices.

In addition, the Chilly Chicken is another scrumptious option to satiate your taste buds. The succulent and perfectly cooked chicken pieces were marinated to perfection. It was in ample quantity and was served piping hot.

I also tried the Long Island Ice Tea which was visually a treat to the eyes.

Not too pricey, interesting concept and quirky interiors make Bulldogs a decent option to enjoy an evening with friends.

Diggin, Anand Lok

The calm and composed residential neighbourhood of Anand Lok is fluttering with soothing music and fancy crowd ever since Diggin cafe was launched here in February last year. The cafe is located right opposite Gargi College and enjoys a crowd of varied age groups. The beautifully lit, flowery entrance and the exquisite wooden furniture gives a cinematic feel. The equally elegant interiors and the attention to details right from the unconventional wall decorations, quirky cushions, artsy accessories, and wall art, Diggin leaves you impressed and you fall in love with the picturesque place at first sight.

The menu has various offerings in soups, salads, appetizers, smoothies, mocktails and main course. Since it was a hot and sunny day, I decided to start my meal with a mocktail, Virgin Mojito with fresh Strawberry. The drink was brimming with flavours, colors and perfect to kick start an interesting meal.

In addition to this, I tried the Apple, Ginger and Mint Smoothie as well. It was fresh, delicious and particularly not very heavy and balanced in flavours.

I began my meal with the Diggin special Crispy Zucchini Fries served with Lemon and Garlic Aioli. The plating was interesting and quirky. The savour of the spices was lip smacking and tasted perfect with the dip. They taste best when served hot, hence I recommend to finish them before ordering the second item.

Next, I ordered another signature dish of Diggin, Baked Penne with Chicken. It included Penne cooked with Tomato Concasse and fresh and gooey Cheese sauce . The peculiar thing about this dish was its cooking process. The Penne was baked to perfection in a wood fried oven which accentuates the tanginess and delicious of the dish.

You can bookmark Diggin for a perfect evening with friends, family, or your partner. The food never lets you down and the ambience will surely make you a regular at this place.

Welcome Point, Hauz Khas Village

This tiny shop in the dingy lanes of Hauz Khas Village might get unnoticed due to its exterior but once you try their delicious rolls, you will be smitten by the exotic flavors. I have become a regular to this place in a very little span of time. The chicken rolls are served fresh, hot and with a perfect balance of spices. The service is quick and the prices are very affordable. I would recommend Honey Chilli Potatoes and Egg Chicken Roll as the two most lip smacking items of this food joint. Your affordable hunger quencher in the costly HKV.

The Potbelly Rooftop Cafe, Shahpur Jat

This place reminds me of a tree house. Every stair that u climb to reach this cozy cafe is worth the effort! I was particularly interested to try Bihari Cuisine which definitely turned out to be very delicious. The Bihari Burger with Garlic Chutney coupled with delicious Cinnamon Ice Tea make up for a perfect meal to soothe your senses on a hot day. The colorful walls and the scenic view is a treat. Go enjoy a lazy Sunday with friends over the delicious delicacies it offers!

Kebab Xpress, Punjabi Bagh

My quest for Kebabs took me to this restaurant, located amidst Punjabi Bagh’s famous cafés. The menu offers a variety of vegetarian as well as non vegetarian Rolls, Kebabs, Tikkas and Biryani. I ordered Murg Malai Tikka which was served hot and with mint sauce and onions. The chicken was soft, and perfectly cooked. The flavors were top notch and tasted well with the delicious mint sauce. In addition, I also tried Chicken Biryani served with curd. The dish was served piping hot, and was little bland in flavour. The rice was cooked well, but the dish could have tasted better with more spices. A nice option for a quick and decently priced evening snack.
