Leaping Caravan’s Shirazine Menu

Does food take you back to a memory?

Well, at rarest of rare occasions like these, when eminent food connoisseurs embark on a journey to spill the beans of some of the most underrated and delicious recipes from their bag full of traditions. Say hello to Parul Pratap Shirazi of Chef at Large fame, the magician as I must say, for giving us something beyond food, an experience, a lingering taste, a long lost memory of the flavours I, and perhaps a lot of you grew up with.

Megha Tuli and Parul Shirazi

Megha Tuli and Parul Shirazi

She ties up with Leaping Caravan, Delhi NCR’s renowned food-tech home delivery service that brings the flavours of the Indian Dhaba right at our doorstep. The uncompromising attitude with the hygiene, the generous quantity, such nice packaging are few parameters that are very tough to be not pleased with, the moment you receive the order. Followed by the aroma of the food cooked in authentic spices, that just can’t fail to leave you smitten.

The menu is a delight for both vegetarians as well as non vegetarians. Keeping it simple, classy and tad original, just like Parul herself, you just can’t go wrong with any dish you lay your hands on!

RawalPindi Meat Curry

RawalPindi Meat Curry

RawalPindi Meat Curry tops the list of my favorites. The dish that forced me to quit the fork and etiquette, and totally justified a guilt free indulgence. Soft lamb, very well cooked Curry and the flavour that reminds me of nothing except my grandmom!  The preparation is done in a slow cooking pot, which gives ample time for the spices to blend in the food and gives such rich flavour to the dish.

Beeji Ka Chicken Bharta

Beeji Ka Chicken Bharta

Beeji Ka Chicken Bharta becomes an instant hit with the aroma of the ingredients. The shredded chicken, chopped onions and the flavour is going to stay with you for long. These dishes don’t come by often, don’t miss on this one!

Biryani lovers like me could kill for such delicious Mutton Biryani. So well cooked, and perfectly marinated meat just shows how efficient the cook making the dish is. Worth a double serving, without a doubt.

Pom’s Dhaba Ghobi

Pom’s Dhaba Ghobi

Pom’s Dhaba Ghobi is the perfect dish for the brewing winter season. If you are a fan of Ghobi Parathas drowned with generous quantity of white butter, then this dish is going to give you a similar feeling of authentic Dhaba food. Won my dad’s heart, and left the family gleaming with joy!

Ending the meal with Ghee Shakkar Roti that transported me straight to the time when enjoying a Chappati dipped with Ghee and stuffed with Shakkar, cooked with nothing but love by your Granny meant bliss. How often do you see such heroic attempts in the kitchen?

Skip a party, order in this exclusive meal and savour it with your family. You might just end up having the best food and a nostalgic conversation, just like I did.

The California Boulevard, Rajouri Garden

CaliforniaBoulevard_im4

Is it just me or has any of you also noticed a rather rare and a very exciting change in our perception towards West Delhi? Our standard choices of a place to dine and party never included Rajouri Garden until the past year. I have seen people changing their perception about this part of the city, right from college students to youth and families. The bustling lane of J Block is deemed to bring back this lost charm to Rajouri Garden and make it one of the most happening places in the capital which draws people in NCR as well to drop by and pay a visit here.

One of the few restaurants credited to change my outlook happen to be AM PM and The California Boulevard. I owe a little bit of my college nostalgia to these two places.

Keeping the personal love aside, California Boulevard is a restaurant that enjoys a healthy mix of crowd, from youth to families. The concept of a Harley Davidson at the entrance is certainly very new, and many of us stand guilty of posing for a picture with it.

The comfort of fine dining coupled with the best of dishes from across the globe make California Boulevard one of my bookmarked places for a relaxed meal with both family and friends. The restaurant  is spread across 2 floors with a décor that looks straight out of a vintage Hollywood flick in everything be it seating, ambience, or music.  A very warm, hospitable and well-dressed staff greet you at the event, which is not expected from a property that isn’t 5 star these days.

Serving world cuisine on our platter, with more than 300 dishes from 30 countries, I bring to you my favorite picks from the appetizers and desserts. I will be back with a sneak peek from their Gurgaon property bringing cocktails and main course for you.

Here’s something which you should NOT miss, and perhaps thank me later 🙂

1. Chocolate Bomb: Molten Caramel drizzled on a chocolate ball that bursts open into Brownie, Ice cream and nuts! A delight for the eyes and the palate, this is one dessert that I didn’t expect to be THIS delicious. Spare your appetite as this one’s quite filling.

2. Red Velvet: After quite a lot of disappointments of finding a decent Red Velvet pastry, this one sure is gooey and perfectly balanced on the sweetness.

Nutella Chocolate Bowl

Nutella Chocolate Bowl

3. Nutella Chocolate Bowl: At first sight, this looks too good to be eaten. Chocolate shavings garnished beautifully, oh what a sight. And with Nutella inside, I really don’t have words to describe the feeling. Yes, you got it right.

Kaffir Lime Chicken Tikka

Kaffir Lime Chicken Tikka

4. Kaffir Lime Chicken Tikka: Perfectly Seasoned Chicken Tikka is nothing short of bliss and probably one of the most underrated pleasures of life. The chicken was juicy, succulent and marinated to perfection. A quick nibble with the drinks and a rather fresh change from usual Chicken Tikka.

Dilli Ki Chaat

Dilli Ki Chaat

5. Dilli Ki Chaat: The authentic flavours of street food in a fine dining place, yes that’s California Boulevard. A trio of Tamarind, Mint Sauce and Yogurt served on crispy Spinach, the result is sheer bliss! Light, tangy and so flavorful, a perfect appetizer to kickstart an awesome meal.

Vegetable Bruschetta

Vegetable Bruschetta

6. Vegetable Bruschetta: It is indeed a rarity for a harcore carnivore like me to vouch for a vegetarian item, but this one just left a lingering taste on my palate. A crispy bread, topped with the freshest of exotic veggies like bell peppers, rocket leaves, artichoke and feta cheese. An ample quantity and right choice of veggies make this my hot favorite.

Asian Haus, East of Kailash

If your taste buds are not very familiar with any other cuisine except Indian, Chinese or Italian, then perhaps you fall in the category as I belong to. My tryst with authentic Thai cuisine was yet to begin, until of course I heard about Asian Haus. Apparently, the brand is a favorite and almost on speed dial of every Sushi lover. Last weekend, I chose to put my taste buds to test and totally loved Asian Haus’ heroic attempt to deliver authentic Thai flavours at my doorstep, piping hot and a packaging that is nothing short of a visual delight.

To add to it, wet wipes, 4 different sauces, chopsticks provided with the order elevated the food experience to a new high! Listing out what to miss and what to try.

Spinach Mushroom Crystal Dumpling

Spinach Mushroom Crystal Dumpling

Spinach Mushroom Crystal Dumpling : The Dumplings are for a change, NOT so spicy. With oodles of Spinach, you can relax about the nutritional intake. The sauces perfectly balance the bland flavour of the veggies. Also, while I enjoyed these with chopsticks like a hero, brownie points for me.
Crackling Corn

Crackling Corn

Crackling Corn : Perfect appetizer for a meal. I always love a dish that is served beautifully, and this one become an instant favorite after one dig. Fresh cut red chillies oh no, you don’t need to refrain yourself thinking it’s sizzling spicy. This one’s very balanced on the spice quotient. Only if all healthy things were as tasty as this, sigh!
Pad Thai Noodles

Pad Thai Noodles

Pad Thai Noodles : Such a fresh change from the run on the mill oily noodles and chow mein. Flat Noodles garnished with broccoli, lettuce and THAT hot almost left me wondering how they managed the delivery that quick. Well, faith in food delivery services restored, thanks Asian Haus!
Thai Red Curry with Fragrant Rice

Thai Red Curry with Fragrant Rice

Thai Red Curry with Fragrant Rice : The flavor of lemongrass is too dominant in this item. Perhaps, cutting down a little on it can help balance and help us enjoy the flavours of all items in the dish. Pair it with Fragrant Rice and you can call it a good day definitely.

If you are looking forward to enjoy your meal in a tight budget and with a limited number of people, then choose their meal box. They have the best of these above food items in one pack.

WHAT: Asian Haus

Fork You Too, Gurgaon

It is tough for a restaurant to follow the legacy of a very successful and established predecessor. Fork You Too, started 6 months ago with a second innings in the Gurgaon Sector 29 Market goes beyond its signature style of burgers and leaves you smitten with an effortless charm!

11401098_1675711502662169_1786017204820592877_n

The ambience is similar to an american style restrobar, with good music and raw aesthetics. Love the lightning and how the wonderfully attentive staff welcomes you at the entrance.

Fork You Too

Fork You Too

The place is gigantic, very spacious and can easily cater an evening of 200+ pax.  For privacy and closure, you can choose one of the 4 booths each on the right with a seating capacity of over 12 people. Comfortable chairs and sofas in the centre and a very beautifully lit bar section at the far end makes for a decent ambiance.

The food menu is vast, offers ample variety and definitely changed my assumption of Fork You Too loved only for its signature burgers. Surprisingly, there is Italian, Mexican and recently introduced Indian cuisine as well. You will definitely be spoilt for choice at your visit here and drop by again to satiate your taste buds with the palatable dishes!

COCKTAILS

Virgin Mojito with Clove and Basil

Virgin Mojito with Clove and Basil

This drink is the best Mojito I have ever had. Such an interesting fusion of flavours, almost perfect to set the tone of a perfect meal. Also, the courteous bartender is brimming with joy while serving you the drink which just alleviates the taste 🙂

Vodka with Banana Crush and Orange

This is THE cocktail for summers! Fresh and juicy watermelon pieces with a zing of lime coupled with a base of vodka. The devilish red color of the cocktail is so alluring!

FOOD

Greek Feta Cheese Salad

Greek Feta Cheese Salad

Greek Feta Cheese Salad

Not a big fan of Greek Feta Cheese and neither a salad person, yet bowled over by the balance of flavours and the exemplary plating, especially how beautifully cucumber is served. Definitely a very healthy and light appetizer to begin your meal!

Tenderloin Cheese Burger

Tenderloin Cheese Burger

With so many burger outlets mushrooming in the city with almost similar taste, I firmly believe that the presentation and the authentic cooking style makes Fork You Too stand out from the rest. The plating is impressive, with veggies and fries on the side making it a wholesome meal for one.

Tostadas

Tostadas

Tostadas

Cooked with kidney beans and garnished with fresh mushroom topping, Tostadas at Fork You Too are one of the best ones you will ever try. Served on a flat, crispy tortilla with gooey cheese, they are light and healthy. If all nutritious things were this delicious, life would have been a lot better 🙂

This delicious Mexican delight is one of the top highlights of Fork You Too!

Onion Rings

Onion Rings

Onion Rings

Onion rings lose their charm if they even a pinch of extra oil in them. A basic appetizer served so beautifully with a side of fresh vegetables, the effort by the chefs here is commendable. The rings were crispy and not moist, and taste best when enjoyed immediately before they become soggy.

Chicken Mozzarella Fingers

Crispy, juicy and very tender pieces of chicken with a pinch of barbeque flavour. Served with fresh vegetables on the side, and tastes fresh out of the barbeque grill!

Among the host of restaurants specializing in foreign cuisine, pubs, bakeries and cafes in the stretch of Sector 29 market, Fork You Too stands out by offering a plethora of cuisines in their food menu, and most definitely the interiors and hospitable staff.

Located in the heart of the corporate and commercial centre of Gurgaon, Sector-29 market enjoys eclectic crowd. Also, free parking and smooth traffic flow in the vicinity keeps you at ease.
