Leaping Caravan’s Shirazine Menu

Does food take you back to a memory?

Well, at rarest of rare occasions like these, when eminent food connoisseurs embark on a journey to spill the beans of some of the most underrated and delicious recipes from their bag full of traditions. Say hello to Parul Pratap Shirazi of Chef at Large fame, the magician as I must say, for giving us something beyond food, an experience, a lingering taste, a long lost memory of the flavours I, and perhaps a lot of you grew up with.

Megha Tuli and Parul Shirazi

Megha Tuli and Parul Shirazi

She ties up with Leaping Caravan, Delhi NCR’s renowned food-tech home delivery service that brings the flavours of the Indian Dhaba right at our doorstep. The uncompromising attitude with the hygiene, the generous quantity, such nice packaging are few parameters that are very tough to be not pleased with, the moment you receive the order. Followed by the aroma of the food cooked in authentic spices, that just can’t fail to leave you smitten.

The menu is a delight for both vegetarians as well as non vegetarians. Keeping it simple, classy and tad original, just like Parul herself, you just can’t go wrong with any dish you lay your hands on!

RawalPindi Meat Curry

RawalPindi Meat Curry

RawalPindi Meat Curry tops the list of my favorites. The dish that forced me to quit the fork and etiquette, and totally justified a guilt free indulgence. Soft lamb, very well cooked Curry and the flavour that reminds me of nothing except my grandmom!  The preparation is done in a slow cooking pot, which gives ample time for the spices to blend in the food and gives such rich flavour to the dish.

Beeji Ka Chicken Bharta

Beeji Ka Chicken Bharta

Beeji Ka Chicken Bharta becomes an instant hit with the aroma of the ingredients. The shredded chicken, chopped onions and the flavour is going to stay with you for long. These dishes don’t come by often, don’t miss on this one!

Biryani lovers like me could kill for such delicious Mutton Biryani. So well cooked, and perfectly marinated meat just shows how efficient the cook making the dish is. Worth a double serving, without a doubt.

Pom’s Dhaba Ghobi

Pom’s Dhaba Ghobi

Pom’s Dhaba Ghobi is the perfect dish for the brewing winter season. If you are a fan of Ghobi Parathas drowned with generous quantity of white butter, then this dish is going to give you a similar feeling of authentic Dhaba food. Won my dad’s heart, and left the family gleaming with joy!

Ending the meal with Ghee Shakkar Roti that transported me straight to the time when enjoying a Chappati dipped with Ghee and stuffed with Shakkar, cooked with nothing but love by your Granny meant bliss. How often do you see such heroic attempts in the kitchen?

Skip a party, order in this exclusive meal and savour it with your family. You might just end up having the best food and a nostalgic conversation, just like I did.

The California Boulevard, Rajouri Garden

CaliforniaBoulevard_im4

Is it just me or has any of you also noticed a rather rare and a very exciting change in our perception towards West Delhi? Our standard choices of a place to dine and party never included Rajouri Garden until the past year. I have seen people changing their perception about this part of the city, right from college students to youth and families. The bustling lane of J Block is deemed to bring back this lost charm to Rajouri Garden and make it one of the most happening places in the capital which draws people in NCR as well to drop by and pay a visit here.

One of the few restaurants credited to change my outlook happen to be AM PM and The California Boulevard. I owe a little bit of my college nostalgia to these two places.

Keeping the personal love aside, California Boulevard is a restaurant that enjoys a healthy mix of crowd, from youth to families. The concept of a Harley Davidson at the entrance is certainly very new, and many of us stand guilty of posing for a picture with it.

The comfort of fine dining coupled with the best of dishes from across the globe make California Boulevard one of my bookmarked places for a relaxed meal with both family and friends. The restaurant  is spread across 2 floors with a décor that looks straight out of a vintage Hollywood flick in everything be it seating, ambience, or music.  A very warm, hospitable and well-dressed staff greet you at the event, which is not expected from a property that isn’t 5 star these days.

Serving world cuisine on our platter, with more than 300 dishes from 30 countries, I bring to you my favorite picks from the appetizers and desserts. I will be back with a sneak peek from their Gurgaon property bringing cocktails and main course for you.

Here’s something which you should NOT miss, and perhaps thank me later 🙂

1. Chocolate Bomb: Molten Caramel drizzled on a chocolate ball that bursts open into Brownie, Ice cream and nuts! A delight for the eyes and the palate, this is one dessert that I didn’t expect to be THIS delicious. Spare your appetite as this one’s quite filling.

2. Red Velvet: After quite a lot of disappointments of finding a decent Red Velvet pastry, this one sure is gooey and perfectly balanced on the sweetness.

Nutella Chocolate Bowl

Nutella Chocolate Bowl

3. Nutella Chocolate Bowl: At first sight, this looks too good to be eaten. Chocolate shavings garnished beautifully, oh what a sight. And with Nutella inside, I really don’t have words to describe the feeling. Yes, you got it right.

Kaffir Lime Chicken Tikka

Kaffir Lime Chicken Tikka

4. Kaffir Lime Chicken Tikka: Perfectly Seasoned Chicken Tikka is nothing short of bliss and probably one of the most underrated pleasures of life. The chicken was juicy, succulent and marinated to perfection. A quick nibble with the drinks and a rather fresh change from usual Chicken Tikka.

Dilli Ki Chaat

Dilli Ki Chaat

5. Dilli Ki Chaat: The authentic flavours of street food in a fine dining place, yes that’s California Boulevard. A trio of Tamarind, Mint Sauce and Yogurt served on crispy Spinach, the result is sheer bliss! Light, tangy and so flavorful, a perfect appetizer to kickstart an awesome meal.

Vegetable Bruschetta

Vegetable Bruschetta

6. Vegetable Bruschetta: It is indeed a rarity for a harcore carnivore like me to vouch for a vegetarian item, but this one just left a lingering taste on my palate. A crispy bread, topped with the freshest of exotic veggies like bell peppers, rocket leaves, artichoke and feta cheese. An ample quantity and right choice of veggies make this my hot favorite.

Asian Haus, East of Kailash

If your taste buds are not very familiar with any other cuisine except Indian, Chinese or Italian, then perhaps you fall in the category as I belong to. My tryst with authentic Thai cuisine was yet to begin, until of course I heard about Asian Haus. Apparently, the brand is a favorite and almost on speed dial of every Sushi lover. Last weekend, I chose to put my taste buds to test and totally loved Asian Haus’ heroic attempt to deliver authentic Thai flavours at my doorstep, piping hot and a packaging that is nothing short of a visual delight.

To add to it, wet wipes, 4 different sauces, chopsticks provided with the order elevated the food experience to a new high! Listing out what to miss and what to try.

Spinach Mushroom Crystal Dumpling

Spinach Mushroom Crystal Dumpling

Spinach Mushroom Crystal Dumpling : The Dumplings are for a change, NOT so spicy. With oodles of Spinach, you can relax about the nutritional intake. The sauces perfectly balance the bland flavour of the veggies. Also, while I enjoyed these with chopsticks like a hero, brownie points for me.
Crackling Corn

Crackling Corn

Crackling Corn : Perfect appetizer for a meal. I always love a dish that is served beautifully, and this one become an instant favorite after one dig. Fresh cut red chillies oh no, you don’t need to refrain yourself thinking it’s sizzling spicy. This one’s very balanced on the spice quotient. Only if all healthy things were as tasty as this, sigh!
Pad Thai Noodles

Pad Thai Noodles

Pad Thai Noodles : Such a fresh change from the run on the mill oily noodles and chow mein. Flat Noodles garnished with broccoli, lettuce and THAT hot almost left me wondering how they managed the delivery that quick. Well, faith in food delivery services restored, thanks Asian Haus!
Thai Red Curry with Fragrant Rice

Thai Red Curry with Fragrant Rice

Thai Red Curry with Fragrant Rice : The flavor of lemongrass is too dominant in this item. Perhaps, cutting down a little on it can help balance and help us enjoy the flavours of all items in the dish. Pair it with Fragrant Rice and you can call it a good day definitely.

If you are looking forward to enjoy your meal in a tight budget and with a limited number of people, then choose their meal box. They have the best of these above food items in one pack.

Peppertap Comes To Gluttony Goddess’ Rescue!

11796242_1039444129401546_7428024718999940235_n

The trend of buying grocery in bulk and storing it in pantry or refrigerator for weeks is a thing of the past. From buying a pin to a plane, from a smartphone to branded clothing, almost anything and everything can be delivered at your doorstep within no time.

Convenience is the key and time is the hero. I have never fancied cooking and always preferred the easier part i.e. eating. However, one fine day when I decide to overtake the kitchen and perhaps, put my cooking skills to test, I was trapped home with bad weather and no groceries.

Voila, Peppertap came to my rescue. The situation almost sounds too good to be true- ordering good quality veggies, in the middle of the day, wearing pyjamas at the click of a button!

Overwhelmed by the options? Check out the primer.

Imagine not coming back home laden with big grocery bags on mandatory visits to supermarkets on Sundays, or no hunting for the top-notch quality of bell peppers, and maybe, no waiting in line at the cash counter and hopefully, no need to visit a grocery store again!

1. Quick Delivery: Farmers’ level market level quality items at your doorstep in less than 2 hours. Peppertap’s key USP is accurate and on time delivery of items. No hidden costs, no delivery fee beyond 250 INR, and as far as my experience goes, no downside yet

2. Order online or via Mobile App: A very user friendly website with a finely detailed menu listing down items in proper sections which make shopping a delightful experience! Availing free shipping over orders above 250 INR makes you order more than you require, which is one common practice I am always guilty of!

3. Multiple Options: From baby foods to pet care, from special fasting food to kitchen utilities, Peppertap makes sure that it caters to each demand of every user! Impressive, convenient and very innovative!

You can view the website here and don’t forget to share your Peppertap shopping experience with me. Until then, keep exploring!

Niice Cream, Hauz Khas Village

Niice Cream 5

For people with a sweet tooth, there is no proper time or a season to enjoy an Ice Cream. It happens to be a dessert that can easily brave the test of weather, time and season and be enjoyed all round the year. While Delhi weather acts erratic and confused between sudden downpour to terrible humidity the next moment, I suggest you to indulge in some flavorful ice creams!

Recently, the culinary industry is noticing some very brave and interesting attempts at bringing a plethora of wonderful masterpieces on customer’s table. One such successful attempt is Liquid Nitrogen, which has most definitely been adapted into various styles of cooking, be it Cocktails, Chaat and now Ice Cream.

Niice Cream is a tiny and colorful store located in the posh lane of Hauz Khas Village. The outlet has a seating capacity of about 6-8 people and with a very detailed menu, helps you to satiate your sweet tooth with the wildest combinations and flavours of ice cream you ever wished to gorge on. Apart from this, they also offer shakes and waffles which happen to be a hot favorite amongst customers already.

The preparation of the ice cream is done right in front of your eyes with optimum level of hygiene and finesse. The menu is very detailed, offering ample of variety in flavours, toppings and also giving you the freedom to enjoy the final product in your chosen color! To which my very first concern was if its synthetic flavour or not. The owner Aakriti Gupta, says, “We use 100% natural and fruit based colors. We understand that we deal with an audience that majorly includes kids and family, who are very cautious about health. These colors pose no harm except bringing a big smile on your face” she ends with a grin.

I would leave you guys with some definite ones to be tried while you visit here next 🙂 However, I would suggest you to let your imagination run wild and try the most unique flavours in your favorite color!

Mint Ice Cream with a topping of After Eight: Sweet creamy texture and the perfect balance of flavours. The mint lends it the freshness while the After Eight chocolate makes this one totally spot on. This taste is definitely staying with me for long.

Sbarro Restaurants, India

IMG_20150714_084046~2

Delhi food circuit is long deprived of an authentic Italian food joint. Breaking the clutter of QSR’s failing to deliver us with sumptuous Pizzas, is Sbarro Restaurants in the city. The flavours and aroma of the authentic New York Style pizzas is delivered beautifully by Sbarro. They are currently operational with two branches in Delhi- NCR.

My tryst with Sbarro began at their very interesting campaign previously done by the brand. They introduced the concept of Man V/S Pizza and used Social Media brilliantly to collaborate with bloggers and test their ability to eat giant pizza slices in a stipulated time limit! Read more about Man V/S Pizza here.

Hand tossed and fresh dough, with toppings of fresh ingredients makes Sbarro my favorite for a quick meal. Also, I love how they have customized few flavours to cater to the Indian taste buds. It is indeed commendable to bring Indian flavours and aroma while keeping  the authenticity of their signature style of pizzas intact.

Located at two most convenient locations of the city, Connaught Place and Huda City Centre, Gurgaon Sbarro enjoys a huge crowd from both working professionals and youth. Easy to reach both by metro and car, Sbarro enjoys good walk-ins of their NY style pizzas.

Apart from ease of location and lively ambience, Sbarro also delights us with three variants of pizza crust – New YorkPan Crust and Stuffed Crust.

Corporate chef Rahul Gladwin Massey heads the Sbarro outlet in NCR, and strives to stick to the original international menu with only a few minor additions of pizzas for Indian Palate. Rahul is an eminent name in the hospitality sector and holds an expertise in the Indian culinary industry.

At the onset of monsoon, when we are just recovering from the hangover of celebrating the king of fruits – Mango in a variety of desserts, Chef Amit Dash, Executive Chef Courtyard by Marriott, Gurgaon brings to table his flavorsome tryst with food innovation.

While the culinary circuit is abuzz with fusion foods and complex food innovations like molecular gastronomy, I rather loved the simplicity of the combination of foods chosen by Chef Amit Dash, which leave you stunned and smitten with an effortless charm.

His idea of making his daughter gleam with joy after serving a similar dessert on her birthday led to the inception of the idea of dessert pizzas.
